CALENDAR : High-Flying CSUN to Host Oregon

Today

Coming off the biggest victory in its 24-match history, the Cal State Northridge women’s soccer team will host Oregon at 7 tonight at North Campus Stadium.

Northridge (2-2) defeated 14th-ranked UCLA, 2-1, on Tuesday. Oregon (1-2), another Pac-10 Conference opponent, is a first-year program led by Stacy Hebert, a freshman sweeper from Buena High. Hebert is Oregon’s team captain.

Water polo

Newbury Park, Thousand Oaks, Agoura, Notre Dame and Alemany are among high school teams from the region participating in the Newbury Park/Thousand Oaks tournament, which is in its second day. Games begin at 12:20 p.m. at the Newbury Park High pool.

Honors

Oswaldo Servin of Cal State Northridge has been selected as Big Sky Conference male cross-country runner of the week. The junior transfer from Cal State Stanislaus timed 25 minutes 7 seconds over an 8,000-meter course at UC Santa Barbara last week to win a meet involving Northridge, Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, Westmont and UCSB.

Maria Banman of Thacher High was selected first-team All-American by the U.S. Women’s Lacrosse Assn.
