Alex Schear caught a six-yard touchdown pass from Nick DiPadova with 2 minutes 13 seconds remaining to help Taft High put away upset-minded San Fernando, 28-18, Friday night in a Northwest Valley Conference game at San Fernando.

San Fernando (2-5, 1-3 in conference) played the game under protest after officials nullified a trick play by the Tigers late in the second quarter.

With Taft (7-0, 4-0) leading, 14-10, San Fernando tackle Alex Luna ran 62 yards to the Taft one-yard line on a fumblerooski, but officials called it back because they were not told beforehand the Tigers intended to run the play.

The Tigers pulled within 21-18 with 4:58 to play on quarterback Terrell Stanley’s 14-yard touchdown run.
