TONIGHT’S GAME
SAN FRANCISCO (9-3) at ATLANTA (2-10)
Channel 7, 6 p.m.
Bill Walsh can stay home for this one. Steve Young, too. George Seifert is 11-4 against Atlanta without Walsh’s help. The Falcons, however, defeated the 49ers, 28-27, in the Georgia Dome last season. The Falcons have never recovered from the loss of quarterback Jeff George, and do you think they want to win now and lose out on the possibility of getting Peyton Manning?
--Say what: This will be Jerry Rice’s 30th appearance on Monday night. Rice has 171 receptions, 2,843 yards and 28 touchdown catches.
--Players to watch: Who sacks Atlanta quarterback Bobby Hebert first? Roy Barker, who has 9 1/2, Chris Doleman, who has 8 1/2, or Bryant Young, who has 8.
--Finally: The Falcons have had 20 passes intercepted; on defense, they have intercepted three, and Young comes in with an NFL-best 66% completion percentage.
