When: 7:40 tonight.

Where: Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum.

TV: Channel 13.

Records: Loyola 12-1, Mater Dei 13-0.

Seedings: Mater Dei is seeded No. 1 in the Division I playoffs, Loyola is seeded No. 3.

Noteworthy: Loyola is the last roadblock keeping Mater Dei from winning its second Division I championship in the past three years. Loyola will be appearing in its second consecutive final and is trying to win its first championship since 1990. Mater Dei Coach Bruce Rollinson and Loyola’s Steve Grady were teammates at USC in the late ‘60s. Each team can tell stories from their Angelus League clashes, and this season, both have similar makeups: big, bruising offensive and defensive lines, talented skill-position players, the ability to handle adversity and the discipline not to beat themselves with penalties. Mater Dei wide receiver Rod Perry has caught 19 passes for 417 yards and eight touchdowns in three playoff games. Monarch quarterback Nick Stremick has passed for 709 yards and nine touchdowns in the playoffs. Mater Dei also has two 1,000-yard rushers in Mike McNair and James Farley. On defense, Perry has five interceptions and Joey Boese four, including one returned for a touchdown. For Loyola, whose only loss is to Newhall Hart in Week 5 of the regular season, Stephen Faulk (945 yards, 15 touchdowns) and Wesley Williard (981 yards, six touchdowns) form a potent backfield tandem. Cub quarterback Ray Kasper isn’t called upon to pass much, but has completed 79 of 145 for 935 yards and 11 touchdowns.
