Car-Truck Collision Delays I-5 Commuters
Evening rush-hour traffic ground to a halt Thursday on southbound Interstate 5 in the when a car collided with a big rig truck near La Paz Road, leaving wreckage that blocked four lanes at the height of the commuting hours, according to the California Highway Patrol.
One person suffered moderate injuries in the 5 p.m. crash, according to CHP Officer Keith Bauer. The crash was three exits south of the San Diego Freeway interchange, compounding delays that have become routine at the El Toro Y, one of Orange County’s heaviest traffic areas.
The cause of the accident and the name of the injured motorist were not available Thursday, Bauer said.
