Cal State Northridge basketball Coach Bobby Braswell said he will be interviewed on Friday in Los Angeles for the vacant coaching position at Oregon.

“I spent the last four years [at Oregon] and when the [athletic director] calls and people there say they want to talk to me, I at least have to do that,” Braswell said. “I’m flattered people have an interest in me, but I’m happy here as well.”

Mark Turgeon, the Ducks’ top assistant, was interviewed on Wednesday morning. Turgeon, Braswell and St. Mary’s Coach Ernie Kent are considered the top three candidates.

Oregon Athletic Director Bill Moos said he hoped to have a new coach hired by next week. The vacancy was created when Jerry Green resigned Tuesday to become coach at Tennessee.

Braswell was an assistant at Oregon for four seasons before taking over at Northridge. In his first season he led the Matadors to their best Division I record (14-15), missing the NCAA tournament by one victory.
