Long Beach State Loses in Baseball

Cal State Northridge scored four in the second inning and three in the fourth and went on to beat Long Beach State, 12-4, in nonconference baseball Wednesday at Cal State Northridge.
Ryan Hurd led the Matadors with a home run and four runs batted in.
Erasmo Ramirez (6-3) was the winning pitcher with eight strikeouts in eight innings. Mike Gallo was the loser for Long Beach State (0-1).
J.J. Newkirk was two for five with a home run, two RBIs and a run scored and Toby Sanchez was three for four with a home run, a RBI and a run scored for Long Beach State (20-13).
Cal State Northridge improved to 25-14-1.
