Because Mike Zapolski is a good neighbor, Agoura and Thousand Oaks high schools will play a Marmonte League baseball game at Peppedine today at 3 p.m.

Zapolski, Pepperdine’s sports information director, lives near Agoura Coach Bruce Beck, who pitched for the Waves in the mid-1970s. The two were chatting and Zapolski suggested the Chargers play at Eddy D. Field Stadium on a day the Waves were on the road.

One player won’t be awed by the upscale surroundings. Agoura second baseman B.J. Hebert played at Pepperdine every Sunday last fall as a member of the Seattle Mariners’ scout team.
