First baseman Shawn Buhner, who started his season with one hit in 11 at-bats, drilled a three-and-two pitch into left field with two outs in the bottom of the ninth inning, driving in the winning run in the Lancaster JetHawks’ 6-5 victory over the High Desert Mavericks on Saturday night before 4,238 at the Hangar.

Yuni Kim walked to lead off the ninth, went to second on a sacrifice and third on a fly ball before Buhner ended the 3-hour, 33-minute marathon.

Chris Dean had his second consecutive three-hit game for the JetHawks (2-1). Dusty Wathan, Tarrik Brock and Kim each had two hits, with Wathan adding a solo home run.
