Brower to Play Volleyball at Dartmouth

Meredith Brower, an outside hitter from Laguna Beach High, has committed to attend Dartmouth, according to Charlie Brande of the Orange County Volleyball Club.

Brower was a starter on the 1996 Artists team that won the Southern Section Division I-AA title and advanced to the state Division I regional final.

Sonora basketball player Jimmy Landry has committed to attend Sacramento State, Raider Coach Mike Murphy said. Landry, 18, also considered Cal State Fullerton, Cal State Northridge and Portland State.

Landry averaged 12 points and five rebounds in helping Sonora (25-4) win the Freeway League and reach the semifinals of the Division II-A playoffs.

Kyle Song, a member of the golf team at Woodbridge, has signed a letter of intent to attend Dartmouth, his father, Mark Song, said. Kyle considered Stanford and UC Davis.

Corona del Mar is looking for a girls’ water polo coach and a girls’ soccer coach, Athletic Director Jerry Jelnick said.

John Vargas, coach of the U.S. national water polo team, headed the boys’ and girls’ water polo programs last season but will return to the school as only the boys’ coach next season. Matt Etchison, walk-on girls’ soccer coach, has resigned.

The Orange County Boat Show returns April 24-27 to the Anaheim Convention Center. Displays include new fishing boats, speed boats and personal watercraft. There also will be seminars for first-time and experienced boaters.

Show hours are Thursday and Friday from 1-10 p.m., Saturday from 11 a.m.-10 p.m. and Sunday from 11 a.m.-6 p.m. Admission is $7 for adults, free for children 12 and under. For information, call (714) 633-7581.
