Sharron Makes a Pitch for Thousand Oaks, 5-1

Jennifer Sharron pitched a two-hitter with 11 strikeouts for Thousand Oaks High in a 5-1 Marmonte League victory over Westlake on Tuesday at Thousand Oaks.

Sharron (10-2) pitched five perfect innings before allowing a pair of sixth-inning singles.

Thousand Oaks (12-2, 6-1 in league play), ranked No. 1 in The Times’ regional poll, scored two runs in the first inning.

Jennifer Richards had two hits with three runs batted in and Erika Hanson had two hits and two runs.

Michelle Notaro had a run-scoring single for Westlake (8-5-1, 4-2-1).

Agoura 1, Newbury Park 0--Breann Pohlman’s bases-loaded single in the eighth inning scored Chrissy Davie for the Chargers (12-4-1, 3-3-1) in a Marmonte League game.

Jennifer Grennan (6-2-1) pitched a two-hitter, striking out six and walking one.

Simi Valley 12, Channel Islands 0--Dawn Carifi and Tracie Hall each drove in two runs, and Brittney Green pitched a two-hitter with nine strikeouts in a five-inning Marmonte League game at Rancho Santa Susana Park.

Hoover 1, Arcadia 0--Deanna Rodriguez pitched a no-hitter but lost when the Tornadoes turned a walk, two errors and a grounder into a run in the first inning of a Pacific League game at Hoover.

Cori Herbert (11-3) pitched a two-hitter, struck out 10 and walked two for the Tornadoes (12-3, 3-0), who won their seventh game in a row.

Crescenta Valley 11, Glendale 0--Becca Baldrige had four hits for the Falcons (15-3, 3-0) in a Pacific League game that was called after six innings due to the 10-run rule at Glendale.

Kennedy 5, Granada Hills 1--Cynthia Barraza’s two-run double for the Golden Cougars (15-1, 7-0) broke open a close game in the fourth inning of a Northwest Valley Conference game at Brand Park.

Verdugo Hills 2, Franklin 0--Kim Wood pitched a no-hitter and had 13 strikeouts for the Dons (18-2, 7-0) in a Northern Conference game at Verdugo Hills.

Rio Mesa 9, San Marcos 3--Erin Yasutake had three hits and two RBIs for the Spartans (11-2, 6-1) in a Channel League game at San Marcos.

Hart 17, Canyon 0--Vanessa Rachella had three hits and three RBIs for the Indians (15-3, 3-0) in a Foothill League game at Newhall Park.

El Camino Real 14, Chatsworth 0--Kristi Nicklaus had three hits and scored three runs for the Conquistadores (13-3, 6-1) in a Northwest Valley Conference game at El Camino Real.

Quartz Hill 3, Highland 2--Jodie Cox (11-4) struck out eight and drove in the eventual game-winning run with a second-inning double for the Rebels (12-5, 3-0) in a Golden League game at Quartz Hill.

Calabasas 3, Moorpark 2--Freshman Amy Rosson pitched a two-hitter, striking out seven for the Coyotes (6-8, 5-3) in a Frontier League game.

Danielle Dryer singled home what proved to be the game-winning run in the third inning to give Calabasas a 3-1 lead.

Sara Hall, who had two hits, threw out Tracy Milburn trying to steal second base--the first time Milburn has been caught in two years.
