Palmdale Hits Follow Antelope Miscues, 9-7

Palmdale High capitalized on two errors by Antelope Valley and sent 11 batters to the plate in a seven-run sixth inning of a 9-7 Golden League baseball victory Wednesday at Antelope Valley.

The Falcons (18-5, 8-3 in league play) erased a 2-1 deficit and chased Antelope Valley’s Jeremy Holiday (9-5) with the rally, which included a two-run single by Jason Gorman.

Kevin Barlow had a two-run triple and Jason Elizondo had a run-scoring triple for the Antelopes (16-9, 9-2).

Quartz Hill 12, Littlerock 0--The Rebels (13-9, 5-7) pounded 16 hits and four home runs to keep their playoff hopes alive in a Golden League game at Quartz Hill.

Brady Robbins pitched a two-hitter with eight strikeouts for Quartz Hill.

Ryan Davis was four for four with two doubles and a home run. Mark Madsen had a three-run home run and David Hall added a solo homer in the sixth. Carlos Hernandez also homered.

Royal 6, Agoura 2--Brett Wayne’s two-run homer in the fourth inning snapped a 1-1 tie in a Marmonte League game at Agoura.

Mike Byer (5-3) had five strikeouts in four innings and had three hits for Royal (15-7, 11-2).

Chris Poling stole four bases and Nick Gontmaher had his 13th double for Agoura (10-13, 5-8).

Simi Valley 11, Thousand Oaks 1--David Krewson had two home runs and Al Rodriguez pitched a six-hitter for the Pioneers (15-9, 7-6) in a Marmonte League game at Simi Valley.

But the Pioneers can’t finish higher than fourth and must hope for a wild-card berth in the playoffs.

Camarillo 6, Channel Islands 2--Ryan Geisler pitched a five-hitter for the Scorpions (21-5-1, 10-2-1), who kept their Marmonte League title hopes alive at Camarillo.

Mike Bannon was three for three, and Andy Kroneberger had two hits and three stolen bases.

Camarillo is half a game behind league-leading Royal with one game left.

Charles Merricks hit a two-run home run for Channel Islands (10-14, 2-11).

SOFTBALL

Alemany 5, Flintridge Sacred Heart 0--Kim Diener (20-3) pitched her 11th shutout with a five-hitter and the Indians (20-3, 9-0) clinched the Mission League title at Sylmar Independent Baseball League Park.

Notre Dame 1, Louisville 0--Karen Tobin hit a run-scoring triple in the first inning of a Mission League game at Van Nuys-Sherman Oaks Park.

Patricia Wetzel pitched a two-hitter for Notre Dame (10-12, 4-6).

Chaminade 3, Harvard-Westlake 0--Maureen LeCocq won a battle of two-hitters against Anna Russell (16-6) in a Mission League game at Valley College.

LeCocq (17-7) had six strikeouts for Chaminade (17-7, 8-2).
