Ludwicki Leads OCC Past Cuesta in Semifinal

Jennifer Ludwicki scored 27 points and was six for six from the free-throw line as Orange Coast defeated Cuesta, 56-45, Saturday in the semifinals of the Coast Christmas Classic women’s basketball tournament.

Teammate Natalie Weeks scored 10 points and had seven rebounds for the Pirates (11-2), who play San Diego Mesa in the championship today at 4 p.m.

Devon Della had 14 points and 12 rebounds for Cuesta (11-5), which plays Chaffey in the third-place game at 2 p.m.

In another Coast Christmas Classic game:

Fullerton 92, West Los Angeles 53--Aimee Copp had 32 points and nine rebounds in a consolation victory for Fullerton. Teammate Paola Flores had 18 points and eight rebounds for the Hornets (9-5).

Heather Floyd had 11 assists for Fullerton.

In nonconference women’s basketball:

Cerritos 79, Cypress 57--Sophomore center Keisha Harris 23 points and seven rebounds to lead Cerritos (9-5). Sophomore Mary Perry had 24 points and eight rebounds for Cypress (10-5).

Santa Ana 111, Compton 18--Santa Ana gave up only nine points in each half.

Shanna Renken scored 30 points and Kim Korsmeica scored 28 and four other Santa Ana players scored in double figures.

In the Pasadena men’s basketball tournament:

Chaffey 64, Golden West 62--Todd Jones had 18 points and seven rebounds for Golden West in the third-place game. Mark Perry added 17 points and seven rebounds for the Rustlers (3-10).

Kelvin Furr had a team-high 16 points and eight rebounds for Chaffey (13-5).

Santa Ana 86, Pasadena 67--Mark Saukkola, who was named to the all-tournament team, scored 23 points for Santa Ana (6-7) in the consolation championship. Saukkola made six of 10 three-point shots and had five rebounds.

In nonconference men’s basketball:

Grossmont 78, Irvine Valley 75 (OT)--David Wilson scored 17 points and Matt Houser had 14 points and seven assists for Irvine Valley.
