From Staff and Wire Reports

A bad offside call denied MLS leading scorer Preki what appeared to be a perfectly legitimate goal in regulation and the Kansas City Wizards had to settle for a 1-0 shootout victory Saturday over the New England Revolution in front of 10,029 at Arrowhead Stadium.

The victory, Kansas City’s ninth at home against three defeats, increased its lead in the Western Conference to two points over the Dallas Burn and 10 over the fourth-place Galaxy with 11 games remaining. The Wizards are 14-7.

The Revolution, third in the Eastern Conference behind Washington D.C. United and the Tampa Bay Mutiny, fell to 12-9.
