Katella 17, Cypress 6--Katella (14-8, 5-0) clinched its first league title with a victory at home.

In the Freeway League:

Buena Park 8, Sonora 7 (sudden death)--Chad Coffman scored the winning goal, giving the Coyotes the third playoff spot. Tyler Ray’s goal with one second remaining in overtime allowed Buena Park (11-10, 3-2) to reach sudden death.

La Habra 18, Troy 7--La Habra (16-7, 5-0) clinched the league title outright, its third in four years.

In Orange League girls’ tennis finals:

Arndt wins title--Magnolia’s Michelle Arndt defeated her sister Elise in the singles’ championship, 6-3, 6-3, to win the league title at the Fullerton Tennis Center.

In the doubles final, Brea Olinda’s Kelly Scanlon and Amanda Manton defeated Valencia sisters Cherie Angeloni and Michele Angeloni, 6-2, 6-3. The top two finishers in singles and doubles qualify for the section playoffs.

In Sea View League finals:

Top four advance--Corona del Mar’s Caylan Leslie, Nadia Vaughan and Nina Vaughan, and Woodbridge’s Susanna Lingman, advanced in singles to today’s semifinals at the Balboa Bay Club. In doubles, fifth-seeded Michelle Stiefel and Natalie Mitton (Woodbridge) advanced with a 6-4, 6-3 upset over fourth-seeded Courtney Tenerelli and Jenny Meyer (Corona del Mar).

In South Coast League finals:

Top seeded players advance--Top-seeded Melissa Esmero of Mater Dei swept in singles, 6-0, 6-0, at the Laguna Niguel Racquet Club.

In Sunset League finals:

Weng upsets third-seeded Meshkinpour--Marina’s Christina Weng, seeded sixth, upset Sanez Meshkinpour of Los Alamitos in a quarterfinal match, 6-2, 4-6, 7-5. The singles matches were played at El Dorado and the doubles at Esperanza.
