Top-Ranked Mater Dei Sweeps San Clemente

Amy DeCinces had 17 kills and Katie Rice had 48 assists to lead Mater Dei, the top-ranked team in Orange County, past San Clemente, 16-14, 15-6, 15-9, in a South Coast League girls’ volleyball match Thursday.

The Monarchs are 17-1, 10-0 in league.

In the Century League:

El Modena 3, Villa Park 1--Courtney Heil had 19 kills for El Modena (15-1, 9-1), which won, 15-10, 4-15, 15-9, 16-14. El Modena shares the league title with Foothill (10-4, 9-1), which beat Santa Ana Valley.

In the Pacific Coast League:

No. 6 Laguna Beach 3, Costa Mesa 0--The Artists (10-8, 3-5) won their 10th consecutive league title, 15-0, 15-4, 15-3.

In the Sea View League:

No. 7 Santa Margarita 3, No. 9 Corona del Mar 1--Michelle Chambers had 25 kills for Santa Margarita (14-3, 8-2) in its, 9-15, 15-1, 15-12, 15-13, victory.

In the Sunset League:

No. 2 Fountain Valley 3, No. 10 Esperanza 1--Natalie Snowden had 21 kills for Fountain Valley (13-2, 9-1), which won, 15-10, 15-10, 13-15, 15-10, to earn a share of the league title.
