Granada Hills Back in Semifinals

Neither No. 1 singles player Jasmine Dao nor No. 4 player Michelle Heiser lost a game and second-seeded Granada Hills swept University, 7-0, in a City Section 4-A Division quarterfinal match Friday at the Studio City Racquet Centre.

The Highlanders (13-0) advance to the semifinals Tuesday against third-seeded Hamilton at the Racquet Centre. Granada Hills lost in the semifinals last season.

In another City 4-A quarterfinal:

Hamilton 7, El Camino Real 0--The No. 2 doubles team of Jessica Jung and Sharon Shuster and the No. 3 team of Anna Setterberg and Valerie Perret combined to win 10 games, but the sixth-seeded Conquistadores (7-5) were swept at the Studio City Racquet Centre.

In Southern Section playoff openers:

Simi Valley 14, Glendale 2--The Pioneers swept nine doubles sets and won their 16th consecutive match in a Division I match at Rancho Simi Community Park. Eugenia Koo and Margo O’Donnell lost only two games in winning three doubles sets.

Camarillo 12, Arcadia 6--The Scorpions (18-2) lost only one singles match, getting sweeps from Lauren Gaona and Erin Jones, in a Division I match at Camarillo.

Hart 17, La Mirada 1--Jenny Munroe did not lose a game in winning three sets at No. 1 singles and No. 3 player Bethanie Campbell won three sets by 6-1 scores for the Indians (16-0) in a Division II match at Hart.

Agoura 17, El Monte 1--Marmonte League singles champion Brooke Borisoff improved her season set record to 54-3 by sweeping three sets for the Chargers (13-7) in a Division III match at Agoura.

Harvard-Westlake 18, North Torrance 0--Marissa Irvin did not lose a game for the Wolverines in a Division III match at the Studio City Golf and Tennis Club.

BOYS’ WATER POLO

Buena 13, Thousand Oaks 5--Conor Nideffer and Robert Klamser each scored three goals and Patrick Treanor had 14 saves for the host Bulldogs (15-10) in a Division IV first-round game.

Ventura 17, Malibu 16--Chad Caldwell scored eight goals for Ventura in a Division IV game.
