Troy Breezes Past La Habra in Playoff Tuneup

Share

Having already clinched a playoff berth, Troy needed nothing more from La Habra than a final tuneup before the playoffs begin next week.

Led by Todd Frazier’s 154 yards and three touchdowns, the Warriors looked more than ready, cruising past the Highlanders, 27-6, in a Freeway League game Friday night at La Habra High School.

Frazier teamed with fellow running back Adrian Vargas for 227 yards rushing. The Warriors (5-4-1, 3-1-1) relied heavily on the two, who represented almost all of the Troy offense.

One play after a 27-yard run by Frazier, Vargas got the Warriors on the board first with a five-yard touchdown run to cap Troy’s opening possession.

Frazier gave the Warriors a 14-0 lead midway through the second quarter with a four-yard touchdown, his first of the night.

The Highlanders mustered only 42 yards and two first downs in the first half.

Frazier went in from nine yards to make it 20-0 early in the third quarter. After Charles Lee picked off a Morales pass two plays later, Frazier bolted 53-yards for a 27-0 lead.

Morales connected with Brad Egan for a touchdown on the last play of the game. He threw three interceptions.

Just as Troy did, La Habra (2-7-1, 0-4-1) kept the ball on the ground, as Joshua Herrera carried a career-high 24 times for 82 yards.
