When the Southern Section released the Division III draw for the football playoffs, Agoura High Coach Charlie Wegher wasn’t surprised to see who the Chargers drew in the first-round: Mission League champion Notre Dame.

The Notre Dame-Agoura matchup is one of five first-round showdowns featuring area teams.

“That’s who we felt we’d get,” said Wegher, whose team finished third in the Marmonte League and will make its first postseason appearance since 1992 on Saturday at Notre Dame High. “They’re going to be brutal to play. But our players are excited. We’ve got a group that likes a challenge.”

Other first-round matchups involving area teams are Antelope Valley at Valencia in a Division II game Saturday, Fillmore at Moorpark on Friday and Calabasas at top-seeded St. Bonaventure on Saturday in Division X games, and Kilpatrick at Paraclete on Friday in a Division XI game.
