Dark horse: Fontana Ambassador Christian, the only other undefeated team (9-0) in the playoffs. They could face Lucerne Valley in the quarterfinals.

Notes: This is the third year for Division XII playoffs. . . . St. Margaret’s, the only county team in this bracket, has been in the playoffs all three years but has never advanced past the first round. . . . The Tartans are led by senior quarterback Dylan Gilbert, who has thrown 1,000 yards and 11 touchdowns. . . . Senior running back Alex Perin has rushed for 380 yards and four touchdowns. . . . Senior linebacker Peter Nelmes leads the Tartans in tackles (51). . . . St. Margaret’s has never faced its first-round opponent, Temecula Linfield, in 11-man football. They met in 1991 as eight-man teams. . . . Boron has an excellent wide receiver in junior Richard Sheasly, who has caught 35 passes for 950 yards and 15 touchdowns. . . . Eric Butterworth is Lucerne Valley’s leading rusher with 898 yards and 15 touchdowns despite missing the first three games because of a dislocated left elbow.
