Preseason-favorite Capistrano Valley opens the season at 3 p.m. Tuesday at Woodbridge. The Cougars will be tested early by the Warriors, a preseason top-10 selection. Capistrano Valley’s first-year coach, Jack Peterson, has eight returning starters, including two-time All-Southern Section selection Kim Abbamonto. Last season, she led the Cougars to their first league title since 1989 and the second round of the playoffs.
