Northridge Starts Fast in Big Sky
Cal State Northridge defeated Idaho State, 15-8, 15-10, 15-4, on Thursday night in a Big Sky Conference women’s volleyball opener in Pocatello, Idaho.
Nancy Ma had 12 kills and Crystal Newquist added 11 kills and five blocks for the Matadors (7-2), who held Idaho State (3-9) to a hitting percentage of .079.
Setter Ellie Flato had five kills, four blocks and 32 assists for Northridge, which won the conference championship last season.
Alexis Schnedier had 10 kills for the Bengals.
In another women’s volleyball match:
Cal State Dominguez Hills d. The Master’s, 15-5, 15-4, 14-16, 15-8--Kim Gibson had 13 kills and Kristi Ralston added 11, but the Mustangs fell at Dominguez Hills.
The Mustangs (7-9) had more errors than kills in each of the first two games, but had 21 kills in winning the third game.
Alicia Zamparelli had 19 kills for Dominguez Hills (5-6).
MEN’S SOCCER
Cal Baptist 1, The Master’s 0--Jay Burke scored in the 95th minute of overtime for the Lancers (2-3) at Cal Baptist.
The Master’s (2-5) outshot Cal Baptist, 26-10.
