Junior Zach Foster caught a six-yard touchdown pass late in the fourth quarter to help Woodbridge rally for a 22-17 victory over Foothill Saturday at Irvine High, ending the Warriors’ winless streak of 26 games.

Woodbridge’s last victory came in October, 1994, when it defeated Sacramento Florin, 10-0.

“It’s an unbelievable feeling,’ said senior free safety Adam Lawyer. “I haven’t won a game on varsity ever. There was a lot of pain, but winning just takes all that pain away.”

Woodbridge (1-0-1) was led by sophomore running back Shane Harris, who rushed for 106 yards in 15 carries and junior running back Eric Jensen, who ran for two touchdowns.

Woodbridge quarterback Scott Barlow completed eight of 12 passes for 110 yards.

Barlow connected with Foster to give Woodbridge a 22-17 lead with 5:36 left to play.

But Woodbridge had to hold off a late scoring threat by Foothill (0-2) to secure the victory.

Kennedy 21, Santa Ana Valley 14--Kennedy’s Jack Tucker scored 14 points in the fourth quarter and recovered a Santa Ana Valley fumble in the game’s final minute to lead the Fighting Irish in a nonleague game at Western High.

Tucker scored on a five-yard run with 8 minutes 29 seconds left to play to bring Kennedy as close as 14-13. The two-point conversion pass by Gabriel Roman was intercepted by Eliu Fatu.
