Hart Gets Run Over by Fleshman, Canyon

Junior Lauren Fleshman won the 800 and 1,600 meters, placed second in the 3,200 and ran on the victorious 1,600 relay team to help Canyon High to a 73-63 victory over Hart in a Foothill League girls’ track and field meet at College of the Canyons on Thursday.

Fleshman clocked 2:22.8 seconds in the 800, 5:12.7 in the 1,600 and 12:46.0 in the 3,200 for Canyon (5-0, 3-0 in league meets).

Leigh Carlson won the high jump at 5 feet and the long jump at 15-8 for Hart (4-1, 2-1).

Buena 75, Ventura 52--Angela Foster of Ventura won the shotput with a school record 42-11 and took the discus at 123-8, but the host Cougars (3-4, 2-3) lost a Channel League meet.

BOYS’ TRACK

Simi Valley 74, Calabasas 49--Ryan Meuse won the 800 in 2:05.9, the 100 meters in 11.4 and the 110 high hurdles in 16.9 to help the Pioneers win at Calabasas.

BOYS’ TENNIS

Van Nuys 7, Sylmar 0--The defending City 3-A champion Wolves (9-2, 8-0) romped in a Valley Pac-8 Conference match at Van Nuys.

Grant 5, North Hollywood 2--Josh Opos defeated Gee Tse, 6-1, 6-0, at No. 2 singles for the Lancers (5-5, 4-2) in a Valley Pac-8 Conference victory at Grant.

Granada Hills 5, Taft 2--The Highlanders (9-1, 6-1) handed the Toreadors (8-2, 5-2) their second Northwest Valley Conference loss in three days.

BOYS’ VOLLEYBALL

Kennedy d. Birmingham 15-0, 15-3, 15-5--Jeff Toon had eight kills for the Golden Cougars (8-2, 5-2) in a Northwest Valley Conference victory at Birmingham.

Calabasas d. Nordhoff, 15-5, 11-15, 8-15, 15-4, 15-0--Scott Shatford had 20 kills and the Coyotes (5-6, 1-3) scored their first Frontier League victory at Nordhoff.

Granada Hills d. Cleveland, 15-5, 15-3, 15-7--Mike Aleman had 12 kills for the Highlanders (8-2, 5-2) in a Northwest Valley Conference victory at Cleveland.

Saugus d. Valencia, 15-6, 15-6, 15-8--Matt Bradley had 10 kills for the Centurions (7-1, 3-0) in a Foothill League match at Valencia.

Westlake 338, Agoura 364--J.T. Kohut and Lee Krieger shot one-under-par 66s to help the Warriors (20-1-1) win at Westlake Golf Course.
