Former Harvard-Westlake High and UCLA water polo star Jim Toring remains in a coma and in critical condition at a Paris hospital, Harvard-Westlake Coach Rich Corso said Friday.

Corso, who spoke with Toring’s father, Hank, said Toring “took a turn for the worse.”

“They’re having a difficult time relieving pressure in the brain,” Corso said.

Toring, 23, who traveled to France to play with the U.S. national team in a tournament, suffered a severe head injury Monday morning when he was struck by a bus.

Hank and his wife, Sandy, who live in Simi Valley, have been at their son’s bedside.
