Lack of Players Puts Flames’ Season on Line

Southern California Christian High Athletic Director Eric Stenlake said the Flames forfeited their nonleague girls’ basketball game Tuesday against Santa Monica Lighthouse Church because of a lack of players.

Stenlake said he will canvass the school’s student body, which numbers about 100, for players before deciding to cancel the season’s remaining games.

The Interscholastic Equestrian League competition continues 8 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at the Orange County Fairgrounds in Costa Mesa.

Founded in 1993, the league provides horseback riding competition on four levels--varsity, junior varsity, freshman and novice--for more than 120 students, representing more than 40 public and private schools. Upcoming meets are set for March 21 and April 25.
