Chaminade, Borchart Rout Scripps Ranch

Scott Borchart had 16 points and 16 rebounds to help Chaminade High defeat Scripps Ranch, 62-39, in a pool play game of the West Hills boys’ basketball tournament Thursday in San Diego.

Cayce Cook added 15 points and five assists for the Eagles. He scored eight of Chaminade’s first 12 points, six on three-point shots.

The Eagles (2-0), ranked No. 2 in the region by The Times, will face West Hills in the final game of pool play at 7:30 tonight. The winner earns a berth in the tournament final.

Calabasas 61, Rio Mesa 40--Michael Goldman scored 19 points for the Coyotes (2-0) in the Saugus tournament.

Oxnard 51, Canyon 50--Jason Parker made two free throws with 14 seconds left to give the Yellowjackets a three-point lead in a victory at the Saugus tournament.

Damian Tafoya scored 21 points for Oxnard (2-0).

Jason French had 16 points for Canyon (1-1).

Quartz Hill 56, Royal 49--Jason Tomlin scored seven consecutive points in the final two minutes to break a 47-47 tie and lift the Rebels (1-1) in a Saugus tournament game.

Cleveland 111, Elizabeth Street Learning Center 43--Kent Dennis had 27 points, 10 rebounds, 11 steals and 10 assists in a nonconference opener at Cleveland.

The Cavaliers forced 46 turnovers.

Crescenta Valley 62, Burbank 53--Eric Rohwer had 20 points and 16 rebounds but the Bulldogs (2-1) fell in a semifinal game of the Burbank/Hoover tournament at Burbank High.

Hueneme 69, Paraclete 46--Robert Luna had 24 points and 10 rebounds in a first-round victory in the Nordhoff tournament.

Albert Garcia of Hueneme sprained his right ankle after scoring eight points in the first quarter. He did not return for the Vikings (1-1).

Hart 58, La Canada 53--The Spartans (0-3) made nine three-pointers, but the Indians (2-0) won a nonleague game at La Canada.

Littlerock 95, South Pasadena 47--Anthony Mayes scored 22 of his 28 points in the second half, and Brandon White added 15 points and 13 rebounds for the Lobos in a victory in the Nordhoff tournament.

North Hollywood 72, Notre Dame 53--Jason McKissick scored 17 points and Rahell Johnson added 16 to help the Huskies win a consolation game in the Simi Valley Tournament.

Chris Williams had 24 points for the Knights, ranked No. 9 in the region.

GIRLS’ BASKETBALL

El Camino Real 76, Poly 19--Cara Blumfield made 14 of 19 shots and had seven steals in a 30-point performance for the Conquistadores in a nonconference victory at Poly (0-1).

Chrissy McClain had 15 points, 12 rebounds and five steals for El Camino Real (3-2).

Simi Valley 76, Canyon 54--Ann Marie Turpin scored 21 points for the Pioneers (2-0) in a nonleague victory at Canyon.

Janette Garcia and La Tricia Fleming each had 17 points for Canyon (1-1), ranked No. 9 in the region.

Notre Dame 69, Grant 35--Jamie Fortin scored nine of her 16 points on three-point baskets in the second quarter while the Knights (1-0) were holding the Lancers scoreless for four minutes at Notre Dame.

Katherine Mallon scored 13 points for Grant (3-1).

Crescenta Valley 93, Pilibos 7--Lar Chouljian had 11 points, 10 steals and nine assists for the Falcons (2-0), ranked No. 4 in the region, in a pool-play game of the Crescenta Valley tournament.

Grant 64, Bell-Jeff 47--Leslie Mui made nine of 15 shot attempts, including three of four three-pointers, to help the Lancers (3-0) to a pool-play victory in the Crescenta Valley tournament.

Fairfax 71, Cleveland 61--Jessica Cosby had 21 points, 10 rebounds and eight steals but the Cavaliers fell in the semifinals of the Eagle Rock tournament.

Saugus 56, Oak Park 32--Lexi Phelps had 14 points and 12 rebounds to help the Centurions (2-1) win a first-round game at the Fillmore tournament.
