St. Bonaventure Zeros In on Title

Chrissy Pike and Jeana Scarlett scored goals and goalkeeper Nicki Ridout notched her 16th shutout for St. Bonaventure High in a 2-0 victory over La Reina in a Tri-Valley League girls’ soccer game Thursday at St. Bonaventure.

La Reina had a chance to move into a tie for first place in the league. Instead, St. Bonaventure (18-1-1, 7-0 in league play) moved closer to its third consecutive league title.

Chaminade 6, Louisville 0--Michelle French had four assists for the Eagles (19-2-1, 6-1) in a Mission League game at Louisville.

L.A. Baptist 5, Marshall 1--Jonna Dominguez scored three goals for the Knights (9-3, 5-1) in the Alpha League match at L.A. Baptist.

Buena 4, Dos Pueblos 1--Natalie Sanderson scored her 15th and 16th goals for the Bulldogs (15-2-4, 9-0-2) in a Channel League game at Dos Pueblos.

Ventura 1, Santa Barbara 1--Erin Specht scored in the first minute but the Cougars (12-8-1, 7-3-1) couldn’t hold the lead in a Channel League game at Ventura.

Rio Mesa 4, Oxnard 0--Karina Molthu and Alexis Nieves each had two goals for the Spartans (9-5-1, 5-5-1) in a Channel League game at Oxnard.

Chatsworth 5, El Camino Real 0--Jackie Fodor scored two goals and the Chancellors (18-1-1, 7-0) won their 13th consecutive game in a Coast-Valley League game at El Camino Real (7-6-2, 2-3-2).

Birmingham 0, Cleveland 0--Goalie Christina Ambriz had nine saves for Birmingham (11-2-2, 6-0-1) and Morgan Bleyeven had 10 saves for the Cavaliers in a West Valley League match at Cleveland.

BOYS’ SOCCER

Thousand Oaks 1, Simi Valley 1--John Krill’s goal didn’t hold up for a victory but it was enough to give Thousand Oaks (13-3-4, 9-1-3) its first outright Marmonte League title at Thousand Oaks.

Buena 2, Dos Pueblos 1--Brad Workman scored the decisive goal in the 70th minute for the Bulldogs (13-2-5, 7-1-3) in a Channel League game at Buena.

Rio Mesa 5, Oxnard 1--David Cervantes scored twice for the Spartans in a Channel League game at Rio Mesa (12-5-3, 5-4-2).

Valencia 2, Burroughs 0--Sean Silveri scored on two penalty kicks in the first half to help the Vikings (9-6-5, 1-3-3) score a Foothill League upset at Valencia.

Burroughs 12-3-5, 4-2-1) was the No. 7-ranked team in Southern Section Division III.

Canyon 3, Hart 0--Goalkeepers Matt Jordan and Warren Johnson combined on the fifth shutout in seven Foothill League games for the Cowboys (14-5-1, 6-0-1) at Canyon.

Crespi 2, St. Francis 1--Justin Spina’s goal gave the Celts (9-9-2, 5-4) a Mission League victory at Crespi.

Moorpark 7, Santa Paula 1--Hugo Ramirez and Jesus Castro each scored twice for the Musketeers (13-5-4, 8-0) in a Frontier League game at Moorpark.

Monroe 3, Van Nuys 2--Joseph Foster scored with 10 minutes left to give the Vikings a Valley Pac-8 Conference victory at Van Nuys.

Buena 10, Rio Mesa 8--Paige Wilson scored three goals for the Bulldogs (7-12, 3-8) in a Channel League victory at Buena.
