Servite Hires Malone to Coach Volleyball

Matthew Malone, 27, has been hired to coach volleyball at Servite High, Athletic Director Larry Walker said Friday.

Malone, who graduated from Marina High and attended UCLA and Long Beach State, was an assistant coach in the men’s volleyball program at Golden West College last season. He replaces Mike Tomlinson.

Nicole Avila, 17, a four-year starter on the Mission Viejo girls’ soccer team, has signed with Long Beach State, said her father, Tim. Avila, a midfielder, has played club soccer with Corona United Impact the past four years.
