Anthony Cooper

Orange Coast, Freshman

Basketball

It was obvious from the start that Cooper, a guard from Tracy Merrill West High, was going to have a big game Friday. He made three-point shots on the Pirates’ first two possessions. He finished with an Orange Coast single-game record of 10 three-pointers in 13 tries. Cooper scored 37 points as the Pirates beat Saddleback, 95-77.

Ben Sanders

* Fullerton, sophomore. He scored 40 points as Fullerton won twice to move into a first-place tie with Santa Ana.

Natalie Weeks

Orange Coast, Freshman

Basketball

Weeks, a center from Pullman, Wash., leads the Orange Empire Conference in blocked shots (2.6 a game) and is fifth in rebounding at 9.3. She also is averaging 10 points, but points are hard to come by because she plays with Jennifer Ludwicki, who is averaging 23. Weeks scored 16 points in a victory over Saddleback and added 12 in a victory over Cypress.

* Fullerton, sophomore. She scored 36 points as the Hornets won twice to take over first place.
