Glendale Moves In, Puts Arcadia Out, 61-53

Alina Markari had 21 points and 12 rebounds to help the Glendale High girls’ basketballl team clinch third place in the Pacific League and a spot in the playoffs with a 61-53 victory over Arcadia on Thursday night at Glendale.

Pola Aghakhanians added 12 points and six assists for Glendale (15-10, 6-4 in league play), which knocked Arcadia out of the playoffs.

In other girls’ games:

Crescenta Valley 79, Hoover 18--Michelle Greco collected 19 points and 12 rebounds in the visiting Falcons’ 32nd consecutive Pacific League victory.

Sinnamonn Garrett added 16 points and eight steals, Tara Gregory had 15 points and six assists Christie Umemoto scored 11 points for Crescenta Valley (22-2, 10-0), which has won three consecutive league championships and is ranked second in The Times’ regional poll.

Alemany 58, Louisville 36--Karina Siam had 23 points and eight rebounds to help the Indians (20-6, 9-1) earn a share of their sixth consecutive Mission League title.

Kelli Kobayashi had 11 points and six assists for Alemany, which tied Harvard-Westlake for the league championship for the second season in a row.

Hart 54, Valencia 44--Melissa Harrison was held to two points in the first quarter but finished with 22 and the Indians completed an undefeated Foothill League season at Hart (21-2, 10-0).

Tiffany Morgan scored 13 points for Valencia (18-7, 7-3), which trailed, 35-34, after three quarters.

Buena 70, Hueneme 26--Kelly Murray had 15 points for top-ranked Buena (23-2, 14-0) in a Channel League game at Hueneme.

Harvard-Westlake 57, Flintridge Sacred Heart 20--Corrie Roberts had 10 points to help the Wolverines (22-5, 9-1) clinch a share of the Mission League championship at Harvard-Westlake.

St. Bonaventure 57, Bishop Diego 54--Stacey Howard had 21 points and 11 rebounds and the Seraphs (16-7, 9-1) clinched their first Tri-Valley League title since 1990.

Camarillo 56, Agoura 55--Michelle Morganti hit two free throws with three seconds left to give the Scorpions a Marmonte League victory after Destiny Sobel was called for a technical foul when she made contact with the ball as Camarillo tried to make an inbounds pass.

Meghan Skelly scored 21 points for Agoura (6-16, 2-11).

Montclair Prep 53, Milken 35--Laura Power had 18 points and 20 rebounds to help the Mounties clinch their fourth consecutive Westside League championship.

Czarina Rinon added 15 points for Montclair Prep (13-6, 8-0), which has won 32 consecutive league games.

Nordhoff 71, Malibu 24--Christen Roper had 12 points and 11 rebounds for the Rangers in a Frontier League victory at Malibu.

Nordhoff (20-5, 8-1) won its fifth consecutive game and pulled to within one game of first-place Moorpark entering a title showdown tonight at Nordhoff.

Bell-Jeff 46, Pius X 23--Stacy Cobb scored 16 points for the Guards (15-10, 10-0), who clinched the Camino League title with their 23rd consecutive league victory at Bell-Jeff.

Burroughs 59, Saugus 29--Leslie Perez sank four three-point baskets and scored 14 points for the Indians (16-8, 6-4) in a Foothill League victory at Burroughs.

Notre Dame 72, Chaminade 35--Judy Diaz had 16 points and 11 rebounds for the Knights (16-7, 6-4) in a Mission League victory at Notre Dame.

Littlerock 48, Quartz Hill 19--Senior forward Carrie Miller had 24 points and 14 rebounds for host Littlerock (14-10, 7-3) in a Golden League game.

BOYS

Crescenta Valley 67, Hoover 66--Mark Hull had 32 points and 12 rebounds, and Zareh Avedian added 22 points and 14 rebounds but the Tornadoes (16-9, 6-4) lost a Pacific League game at Hoover.

Holy Martyrs 54, Viewpoint 39--George Najarian scored 10 of his 20 points in the first quarter for the Armens in a Liberty League victory at Holy Martyrs.

Holy Martyrs (13-8, 7-5) was playing its first home game since junior forward Shant Bronsozian, the team’s second-leading scorer, was killed in a car accident Jan. 30.

Milken 61, Le Lycee 23--Jon Sher and Mike Hanasab each scored 13 points to help Milken (12-7, 11-1) clinch its second consecutive Westside League title.

Buena 57, Rio Mesa 56--Kurt Probasco hit a three-point shot with 25 seconds left to give the Bulldogs a Channel League victory at Rio Mesa.

Danny Thompson had 22 points for Buena (5-21, 2-12).

L.A. Baptist 88, Frazier Mountain 66--Frank Vasquez made 11 three-point baskets and scored 50 points for the Knights (10-12, 5-5) in an Alpha League victory.
