Presten Has No-Hitter for Highland, 10-0

Kelly Presten pitched the first softball no-hitter in Highland High’s nine-year existence Tuesday in a 10-0 victory over Victor Valley at Highland.

Presten (1-0) struck out four and walked two in a game called after five innings because of the 10-run rule.

Michelle Wintermute tripled for Highland (3-0), ranked ninth in The Times’ regional poll.

Valencia 10, Granada Hills 1--Lauren Watson went four for four and scored four runs for the Vikings (2-2) at Valencia.

Kim Mutaw hit a home run for Valencia.

Agoura 4, Moorpark 2--Lauren Casper had a three-run double in the third inning and the Chargers held on at Agoura.

Amanda Oleson and Jennifer Grennan (2-0), who pitched a five-hitter and struck out seven, each had two hits for the Chargers (2-1).

Louisville 3, Oak Park 2--Megan Long scored the winning run on an eighth-inning throwing error on Stefanie Urman’s grounder at Louisville (2-0).

Long led off the inning with a triple.

Kelly Harris scored the tying run for the Royals with two out in the seventh inning on Jennifer Valenzuela’s single.

Rachel Colson had two hits for Oak Park (1-2).

Burbank 7, Littlerock 1--Leslie Alfaro (1-0) pitched four innings, striking out one and walking one to help the Bulldogs (1-2) win at Burbank.

Nordhoff 5, Carpinteria 2--Beth Cain (1-0) had nine strikeouts and two walks in a one-hitter in the Rangers’ victory at Carpinteria.

Lisa Perez had two hits, including a triple, and an RBI, and Lacey Albrent added two hits for Nordhoff (1-0).

Kennedy 10, Van Nuys 0--Patty Del Real pitched a no-hitter and struck out seven in a game called because of the 10-run rule in the sixth inning at Kennedy.

Del Real (1-1) had four hits, scored four runs and had two RBIs for the Golden Cougars (2-1).

Sylmar 22, Franklin 0--Nadine Traba pitched a no-hitter for the Spartans (2-2), missing a perfect game when she issued a walk in the second inning.

Traba, who hit a solo home run, struck out six.

Melody Prendiz hit two two-run home runs for the Spartans.

Reseda 12, Birmingham 0--Stephanie Yeatts pitched a no-hitter and had two doubles and an RBI for the Regents (1-1) at Reseda.

Yeatts struck out nine and walked none, but two errors kept her from a perfect game.

Marquez had three hits and two RBIs, and Annette Gutierrez had two hits, including a triple.

North Hollywood 5, Chatsworth 4--Claudia Villa went three for three, including a run-scoring single to give the Huskies (2-0) a 4-1 lead in the third inning of a victory at North Hollywood.

El Camino Real 20, Canoga Park 0--Stephanie Frasco pitched five hitless innings and struck out eight to help the Conquistadors win at Canoga Park.

Jaqui Goodchild, Cara Blumfield, Christina Enea and Melissa Frasco each had three hits for El Camino Real (3-1), which had 22 hits.

Enea had a two-run home run in the second inning to give the Conquistadores an 8-0 lead and Jessica Riddle added a two-run shot in the sixth inning for a 17-0 lead.

Verdugo Hills 3, San Fernando 1--Kim Wood pitched a three-hitter with 14 strikeouts in a victory for the Dons (2-0) at Verdugo Hills.

Jeanise Smith and Shannon Williamson each had two hits for Verdugo Hills.

Flintridge Sacred Heart 10, Immaculate Heart 4--Lacey Smale had two hits and four RBIs for Flintridge Sacred Heart in a nonleague game at Glorietta Park.

Danielle Turner added two doubles and two RBIs for the Tologs (1-0), who broke open a close game with a five-run sixth inning.

Crystal Kuklinski took the loss for Immaculate Heart (1-2).

La Reina 4-4, Royal 2-2--MacKenzie Vandergeest hit a two-run double in the third inning to break a 1-1 tie and Keri Adams and Stephanie Hyatt each added two hits in the second game to give the Regents (3-0) a sweep of a nonleague doubleheader at Rancho Simi Community Park.

Vandergeest had a two-run single in the opener, breaking a 2-2 tie. She had two hits in the first game.
