Notes

Girls’ golf teams will continue to play this spring, but the sport will begin its Southern Section-sanctioned season this fall, complete with team championships . . . University sophomore Brian Sinay won the Southern Section individual championship last season. The last county player to win as a freshman was Tiger Woods . . . Santa Margarita returns the core of a team that won the SCGA title last season. How deep are the Eagles? Jimmy Pittenger, an All-Sea View League selection, played in four of the team’s first five matches, but the Eagles didn’t use his score twice. And Santa Margarita has the most talented freshman class Coach Tim O’Hara has seen in his four years at the school . . . Although Brea Olinda added brothers Brad and Alex Oh, who transferred from Cerritos, the Wildcats will lose their home course March 29 when Imperial closes.
