Maureen LeCocq pitched a one-hitter to lead Chaminade on Thursday in a 3-0 Southern Section Division IV quarterfinal softball victory over Bishop at Chaminade Middle School.

Eagle Coach Steve Harrington was ejected in the seventh inning and will have to sit out Tuesday’s semifinal against unseeded Rosary.

Chaminade assistant coach Kelly Toovey took over for Harrington, and will guide the team Tuesday if Harrington’s appeal is unsuccessful. The one-game suspension is mandated by the CIF.

LeCocq (22-7) allowed a two-out single in the first inning by Tawny McClennon. McClennon was thrown out stealing and LeCocq was perfect the rest of the way, striking out 11.

It was the 19th shutout for LeCocq, who has now pitched 157 consecutive innings without allowing an earned run.

Chaminade (22-7-1), seeded third, has outscored playoff opponents, 33-0.

Lauren Rousselet had a run-scoring single and a sacrifice fly, and Meghan Holbrook drove in one run with three hits for Chaminade. Amy Biersch and Courtney Whale each had one hit and scored once.

“I believe because of the adversity [injuries to two players] they’ve already been through and because of the cohesiveness of this team, that they will be able to overcome this,” Harrington said.

The Spirits (21-5-2) will face fourth-seeded Orange Lutheran in the semifinals Tuesday, with the site to be determined by a coin flip. Orange Lutheran advanced with a 2-0 victory over Boron.
