Woodbridge sophomore Susanna Lingman won the Sea View League girls’ singles championship with a 3-6, 6-3, 7-5 victory over Corona del Mar’s Nadia Vaughan Thursday at Newport Harbor High.

Lingman trailed, 4-0, in the third set, but came back to win seven of the next eight games.

“It was just an incredible match,” Corona del Mar Coach Tim Mang said. “It was an unbelievable level of tennis.”

Vaughan’s sister, Nina, knocked Lingman out of the Sea View League tournament last year in the semifinals, denying Lingman a chance to play in the Southern Section individual tournament. But Lingman qualified for this year’s tournament, beating fourth-seeded Erin Miller of Santa Margarita, 6-1, 6-2, then she outlasted Vaughan.

“Nadia probably tried to hit with her once she got that lead, and that’s what she shouldn’t have been doing,” Mang said. “That’s what Susanna likes. It got her confidence back up. She was doing well when she was changing the pace.”

Vaughan, who also qualified for the section tournament, reached the finals by beating teammate Eva Baudenbacher, 6-3, 6-3.

Audra Adams and Kristen Case of Newport Harbor won the doubles title, 7-6, 6-4, over Woodbridge’s Adriana Hockicko and Danielle Hustedt.
