Montclair Prep 37, Avalon 6--Sophomore Deron Smith returned the opening kickoff 72 yards for a touchdown and had one of three interceptions for the Mounties in a victory on Catalina Island.
Gary Sonkur carried six times for 103 yards and two touchdowns for Montclair Prep (7-2), which used nine ballcarriers to rush for 227 yards and four touchdowns.
Ramon Johnson intercepted two passes for the Mounties, who limited Avalon to 119 yards.
