Matt Leeth caught seven passes for 158 yards and three touchdowns for Ventura St. Bonaventure in a 35-7 victory over Calvary Chapel in a first-round Southern Section Division XI playoff game Saturday night at Ventura High.

Leeth’s scoring receptions from Chris Lombardo were for eight, 16, and 64 yards for the Seraphs (8-3).

“They did lots of blitzing, but we just got past it and made big plays happen,” said Leeth, who played a little more than half the game before Mack pulled some of his starters with the Seraphs leading, 35-0.

St. Bonaventure outgained the Eagles (4-5-1), 402-85, and will play at St. Monica in Santa Monica next week.

“This team is getting better and better,” St. Bonaventure coach Jon Mack said.

Jesse Kirk rushed for 110 yards in 10 carries for the Seraphs. Kirk had a 46-yard touchdown run for an 18-0 lead late in the second quarter, but Kirk sprained his left ankle on a failed two-point conversion run after the touchdown and sat out the remainder of the game.

Kirk was replaced by Donald Pinedo, who carried seven times for 45 yards.

Lombardo completed 13 of 24 passes for 245 yards, including the three touchdowns to Leeth. Lombardo also kicked a 20-yard field goal.
