Almaraz’s Trifecta Carries Ventura Over Canyons, 7-1

Barbara Almaraz scored three goals and Chrissy Sanford added two to pace the Ventura College women’s soccer over Canyons, 7-1, in a Western State Conference game Friday at Canyons.
Ventura (13-0-2, 11-0) has won 32 consecutive conference games.
The Pirates, ranked No. 6 by the National Soccer Coaches Assn. of America, are 55-6-5 overall and 37-1-2 in conference play in their three-year history.
Lacy Hanna and Lynn Ray also scored for the Pirates and Heather Connoly scored for Canyons in the 25th minute.
In other women’s soccer games:
Montana 1, CS Northridge 0--Misty Hall’s goal lifted the Grizzlies (8-4-1) in a Big Sky Conference game at Montana.
Northridge dropped to 5-10, 2-1 in conference play.
Moorpark 7, Oxnard 1--Tiffany Tackett had three goals and Nikki Hagouel had two for Moorpark (11-3-3, 8-1-2) in a WSC game at Oxnard.
WOMEN’S VOLLEYBALL
CS Northridge def. Idaho State, 15-13, 15-11, 15-7--Laura Szymanski had 17 kills for the Matadors (7-7, 3-4) in a Big Sky match at Idaho State.
