Poly 37, Monroe 31--Steve Smith rushed for 348 yards and two touchdowns in 32 carries, leading the Parrots (3-4-1, 3-1-1) at Monroe.

Poly scored 24 points in the second half, capped by Raul Molina’s 10-yard touchdown run and two-point conversion run that gave the Parrots a 37-31 lead with 10:21 to play.

The Vikings squandered a 10-point third-quarter lead and had the ball at Poly’s six-yard line when time expired.

Smith scored on a 66-yard run with 3:40 to play in the first half and dashed 60 yards for a touchdown in the third quarter to pull Poly to within 24-21.

De Andre Phillips of Monroe (2-6, 0-5) had three catches, all for touchdowns of 52, 38 and 18 yards from quarterback Diego Barba. Barba was nine of 18 passing for 183 yards.

Phillips also ran for two two-point conversions, accounting for 22 points.

Poly’s Alex Vallelo opened the scoring with a 13-yard run.

Monroe came back on a 29-yard scoring run with a fumble recovery by Derrick Jones.
