Even though Capistrano Valley holds an 8-2-1 series edge, outcomes of games between these teams seem to come down to the last seconds. Last season, the game ended in a 30-30 tie. Edison was expected to rebuild this year but looked impressive in its 54-23 victory over Cypress last week. It took a last-second, goal-line stand by Capistrano Valley to hold off Aliso Niguel, 28-21, in its opener. Tonight’s key will likely be how well Edison’s defense can contain Cougar Jeff Dixon, a quarterback who isn’t afraid to leave his protection.
