Mojave 28, L.A. Baptist 27--Derrick Watson of L.A. Baptist had a five-yard touchdown run with 2:30 to play at Mojave. A two-point conversion attempt that would have given the Knights the lead failed after a bad snap.
Watson rushed for 27 yards in six carries. Quarterback Scott Swenson led L.A. Baptist (1-1) with 89 rushing yards in 12 carries. Swenson completed 14 of 29 passes for 136 yards and a touchdown.
Swenson connected with Garrett Ellis for a 13-yard touchdown late in the third quarter to tie the score, 21-21.
