Hueneme 34, Hawthorne 28--Quarterback Jeff Garcia hooked up with Moses Gonzalez on an 11-yard scoring pass play with 2:32 remaining to break a 28-28 tie at Hawthorne.

Donald Thompson paced the Vikings (2-1) with 147 yards in 17 carries and caught four passes for 119 yards. Thompson had three carries for 29 yards and caught a 26-yard pass on the winning drive.

In a game that featured four lead changes, Hueneme led, 22-7, in the first half before allowing 21 consecutive points to fall behind, 28-22, in the third quarter.

The Vikings responded with a nine-play, 65-yard drive, which featured 59 yards from Thompson and was capped by Leslie Lee’s two-yard run to tie the score, 28-28, late in the third quarter.
