Lombardo Goes to the Air, Deflates Nordhoff, 29-0

Chris Lombardo passed for 258 yards and three touchdowns, and St. Bonaventure defeated Nordhoff, 29-0, in a nonleague game Saturday at Ventura High.
Lombardo, who completed 20 of 28 passes, engineered scoring drives of 13, 50 and 90 yards on consecutive possessions in the last 9:44 of the second quarter.
He hit on eight consecutive passes for 102 yards on the drives and completed his last nine passes of the half for 106 yards after misfiring on four in a row near the end of the first quarter.
The second-quarter outburst by St. Bonaventure (2-1) began after Paul LaPointe intercepted a pass by Brandon Titus at the St. Bonaventure 46-yard line and returned it 41 yards to set up the Seraphs’ first touchdown at the Nordhoff 13.
Lombardo passed to Gordo Pinedo three plays later for a seven-yard touchdown and kicked the extra point for a 7-0 edge.
Lombardo completed four of four passes for 39 yards on the Seraphs’ next drive, which was capped by a 14-yard score on a screen pass from Lombardo to Mike Spargo with 5:46 to go in the half. A two-point conversion pass gave the Seraphs a 15-0 lead.
Matt Leeth caught Lombardo’s pass for a 39-yard touchdown with 1:52 to play in the half.
Leeth made seven receptions for 141 yards, Adam Gray-Hayward had four catches for 36 yards and Spargo made three for 31 yards.
Jesse Kirk rushed for 72 yards and the Seraphs’ last touchdown, a three-yard run in the fourth quarter.
Titus misfired on his first eight passes and finished one of nine for four yards with two interceptions for Nordhoff (1-2). He ran 15 times for 60 yards.
