Big Bear 21, Village Christian 7--Jay Alvarado rushed for 236 yards in 17 carries and scored on a 62-yard run for the Bears in a nonleague victory at Kennedy High.

Big Bear (3-0), which rushed for 315 yards, had a 21-0 lead after three quarters and held the Crusaders (1-2) scoreless until Neil Gunn’s one-yard touchdown run with seven seconds remaining in the game.

Gunn completed 11 of 24 passes for 108 yards.

The Crusaders limited the Bears to 17 yards passing and one completion, intercepting four passes.
