Lancaster 8, Antelope Valley 3--The Eagles, in their second varsity season, retained their hold on first place in the Golden League.

Mike Hewson had two hits and three RBIs, and was seven for eight this week with six RBIs for Lancaster (10-3, 5-0), which was 4-11 in league play last season.

Justin Rethwisch added three hits and Johnny Brown had two hits, including a three-run home run for the Eagles.

Quartz Hill 13, Littlerock 11--Travis Allen had five hits, including three doubles, and struck out eight in 6 2/3 innings for the Rebels in a Golden League victory at Littlerock.

A.J. Ryan doubled and homered for Quartz Hill (3-8, 2-3).

Newbury Park 12, Agoura 9--Tyler Johnson (3-1) struck out 11 in six innings and collected three hits for the Panthers in a Marmonte League victory at Agoura.

Ryan Ayers had four hits and Josh Block, Anthony Foli and Matt Emily each added two for Newbury Park (7-4, 1-2), which had 19 hits.

St. Bonaventure 8, Carpinteria 0--Zach Gallagher pitched a two-hitter with six strikeouts for the Seraphs in a Tri-Valley League victory at Carpinteria.

Joey Echevestre hit two run-scoring doubles for St. Bonaventure (4-5, 1-1).

Granada Hills 6, Palo Verde 3--Dan Frisbee hit a three-run triple in the second inning and the Highlanders won a pool play game of the Bishop Gorman tournament at Palo Verde High in Las Vegas.

Frisbee had two hits and four RBIs. His bases-loaded triple highlighted a four-run second inning for the Highlanders (8-1).

Kameron Loe, who has a 1.40 earned-run average, pitched a four-hitter, allowing two earned runs. He struck out seven.

Loe hit an RBI double.

Granada Hills, which has won five consecutive games, plays Saugus in a pool-play game today.

Highland 10, Kennedy 1--Daniel Champieux was seven for eight with three doubles and five RBIs during two games of the Bishop Gorman tournament in Las Vegas.

The Bulldogs lost, 7-6, in eight innings to West Jordan, Utah.

Jason Allec hit a home run in each game and John Santor had two home runs and drove in three runs against Kennedy to improve his region-best total to 26 RBIs.

Jason Kubel struck out 10 and had a no-hitter through five innings against West Jordan, but a defensive breakdown led to five unearned runs in the sixth.

Sylmar 7, Las Vegas Bonanza 5--Greg Ramos (3-0) struck out nine and walked none in six innings for the Spartans, who won in the Bishop Gorman tournament.

Larry Anguino had two hits, including a two-run double in a four-run fourth for Sylmar (8-1).

Ivan Hernandez hit a home run and earned his first save.

Birmingham 8, Valley 0--Patrick Roark pitched a five-hitter, striking out three, and the Patriots (7-5) won in the Bishop Gorman tournament at Las Vegas.

Roark (2-0) allowed only one batter to reach second base.

Camarillo 7, Oxnard 2--Shane Miranda hit a three-run home run for the Scorpions (8-2, 4-1) in a Pacific View League game at Oxnard. Ernie Flores hit a two-run single for Oxnard (2-6, 0-4).

Channel Islands 5, Rio Mesa 2--Eric Rodriguez struck out five in six innings and drove in three runs, and the Raiders beat the No. 8 Spartans in a Pacific View League game at Channel Islands.

Oscar Castro of Channel Islands (5-5, 2-2) and Jose Sanchez of Rio Mesa (9-3, 3-2) each had two hits.

Oak Park 10, Bishop Diego 8--Blake Nelson’s two-run single in the eighth won a Tri-Valley League game at Bishop Diego.

Keith Boldroff hit a two-run homer and Evan Williams had a three-run homer for Oak Park (5-2, 2-0).
