Nevard Is Perfect for Camarillo, 9-0

Kathryn Nevard pitched a perfect game with 16 strikeouts and Camarillo High routed Oxnard, 9-0, in a Pacific View League softball game Thursday at Camarillo.
Nevard (5-0) retired all 21 batters she faced and twice struck out five in a row.
Alana Mendoza and Nicki Holt each had three hits, and Jennifer Byrne and Kim Kasper each had one hit and drove in a run for Camarillo (11-1, 6-0 in league play), ranked No. 2 in the region by The Times.
Quartz Hill 6, Saugus 1--Jodie Cox (14-1) pitched a three-hitter with 12 strikeouts and one walk, and hit her seventh home run for host Quartz Hill (14-1) in a nonleague game.
Jamie Booth hit a three-run home run and Olaya Salazar had two doubles for the Rebels.
Amy Snyder’s run-scoring double in the seventh for Saugus (3-3-1) snapped Cox’s scoreless streak at 39 1/3 innings.
Hart 3, Burbank 1--Despite a half-hour rain delay in the fourth inning, Amanda Fortune pitched a two-hitter with eight strikeouts and two walks for visiting Hart (9-2-1) in a Foothill League opener at McCambridge Park in Burbank.
Fortune (4-1-1) lost a shutout in the seventh inning when Amanda Ivey hit a leadoff double for Burbank (7-5), took third on a single by Leslie Alfaro and scored on Wendy Bastida’s groundout.
Lindsey Kontra had both of Hart’s hits, including a first-inning double. A two-base error on the double gave the Indians a 1-0 lead.
Calabasas 12, Santa Clara 0--Sara Hall had three hits and drove in four runs for Calabasas (8-2-1, 4-0) in a Frontier League game at Santa Clara that was called after five innings because of the 10-run rule.
Carly Weinstein hit a two-run home run in the fourth. Amy Rosson (8-2) pitched a one-hitter and struck out nine.
