Two runs in 18 innings were not enough for the Cal State Northridge softball team.

The Matadors apparently left their bats at home in losing a Big West Conference doubleheader to host Cal State Sacramento on Friday.

Sacramento won the first game, 2-1, pushing across the tying run in the seventh inning on Katie Cichy’s single. Jenn Handy’s double scored the game-winner in the 11th.

Kelly Lovato struck out seven in seven innings and held Northridge to four hits in a 5-1 victory in the second game. Cichy had two hits and Jenny O’Leary had two hits and two runs batted in for Sacramento. Northridge’s Jessica Creith had two hits.
