Detectives are investigating the slaying of a 77-year-old Sycamore Avenue man who was found stuffed in the trunk of his car, police said.

Mendell Lee Segesman was discovered by family members about 10:30 p.m. Wednesday in the trunk of his Ford Escort in the driveway of his home, police said.

Segesman had suffered “upper body injuries,” police said, but it was not known how he was killed pending an autopsy.

Family members told Glendale police that they began looking for Segesman after he failed to pick up his 24-year-old niece at 5 p.m. that day. They searched his neighborhood in the 2900 block of Sycamore Avenue before finding his body in the trunk, police said.

Sgt. Rick Young, a Glendale police spokesman, said there are no suspects. Anyone with information is asked to call investigator Ben Mihm at (818) 548-3987.
