Royal def. Thousand Oaks, 15-5, 14-16, 15-4, 15-9--It wasn’t easy--it rarely is for the Highlanders at Thousand Oaks--but Royal all but wrapped up the Marmonte League title by downing its toughest league rival.

Cam Dickson, who has committed to Cal State Northridge, had 20 kills and Ryan Moberly added 14 for Royal (13-0, 9-0).

The Highlanders, ranked No. 1 in the region by The Times, had several hitting errors and seemed out of sync against a short-handed Thousand Oaks team.

“We, at times, didn’t respond,” Royal Coach Bob Ferguson said. “We made a couple of errors and they took advantage of it.

“It was an opportunity to get better and I don’t know if we did that.”

Jeff Richseon had 10 kills for Thousand Oaks (9-3, 7-2), ranked No. 6 in the region.

The Lancers were without opposite hitter Mark Kobal, who was out with a broken finger on his right hand, and middle blocker Jack Parmelee, who was dismissed from the team last week for disciplinary reasons.
