No. 2 Villa Park Beats No. 5 Marina in Overtime

Cindy Henn’s overtime goal gave second-ranked Villa Park a 6-5 victory over fifth-ranked Marina in a quarterfinal game of the Villa Park girls’ water polo tournament Friday.
Villa Park’s Kristyn Pulver scored with 28 seconds remaining in regulation to send the game into overtime. Henn led the Spartans with two goals. Cara Chlebichi scored four goals for Marina. Villa Park (4-1) plays El Toro, which beat Santa Barbara, 6-5, in a semifinal game at 10 this morning.
In the Magnolia tournament:
Savanna 6, Rowland Heights Rowland 4--Amber Schaefer scored four goals and Stephanie Simpson made six saves for the Rebels (3-2).
In a nonleague game:
Los Alamitos 5, Long Beach Millikan 2--Drew Wawrzynski scored two goals to lead the Griffins (5-2).
In the Magnolia girls’ soccer tournament:
Loara 3, Moorpark 0--Sophomore Chiara Leroy scored two goals to lead Loara (4-0) in the first round. Lauren Lappin also scored.
In the Mater Dei girls’ soccer tournament:
Huntington Beach 2, No. 6 Aliso Niguel 1--Ashley Curtis scored the winning goal off an assist from Angela Neill, as Huntington Beach (2-1) rallied from a 1-0 halftime deficit. Jordan Smith scored the Oilers’ first goal. Stacy Lindstrom scored for Aliso Niguel (2-1-1).
No. 1 Capistrano Valley 1, No. 8 Mater Dei 0--Megan Abbamonto scored for the Cougars (2-0).
